Brent Coon & Associates is representing people who became addicted to Purdue Pharma’s opioid drugs OxyContin, MS OxyContin, Contin, and Ryzolt.  The deadline to file claims has now passed.  The Bankruptcy Court is expected to have a confirmation hearing regarding proposed plan on August 9, 2021.  There are approximately 120,000 injury claims pending before the Court, as well as claims brought on behalf of many governmental entities, including the Federal Government, every State, and many counties and municipalities as well, not to mention health care organizations and other stakeholders who had to fund treatment costs associated to this product for addiction and other injuries.  Each of these individuals and entities had an opportunity to vote on the plan.

The Bankruptcy Court has now approved the plan.  Soon a trust will be set up to start accepting claims.  We will need to start gathering up medical records to show how long you took Purdue Opioids, any evidence of addiction (such as medical treatment or rehab), and for those of you making claims for lost loved ones, evidence that the death was directly related to opioids.  This evidence will determine what, if any, level of compensation you may be entitled to recover.  Specifically, we need records from the pharmacy where you filled your Purdue Pharma opioids prescriptions and medical records which show that you were prescribed them. These records will be used to prove the Purdue Pharma opioids that you were prescribed and took are the ones involved in your addiction.  We may need records from the health care providers who treated you for your addiction.  This includes hospital records, pain clinic records, primary care doctor records, psychiatric care and drug and rehabilitation centers.

If you are having trouble getting your pharmacy records, or your local pharmacy is telling you that they cannot go back far enough you can often reach out to the corporate “Custodian of Records.”   You can find them by doing a web search for a form called a “Custodian of Records for _____ Pharmacy.   Below are links to several major pharmacies:
